We recently held our 16th Annual Eric Mueller Memorial Tournament as the finale to our 2009 Fall Recreational Season. The Tournament was open to all our Division 5 through Division 2 Recreational teams.
The Tournament went to another exciting finish, with a penalty shoot out bringing an end to our first ever tournament held at Mance Buchanon Park. The atmosphere and the excitement was nothing less than spectacular the whole weekend.
The tournament began bright and early at 8:00am Saturday Nov. 7th and came to a nail biting end at 8:30pm Sunday night with the Division 2/3 Boys being decided by penalty kicks. With over 70 games played, many of them decided by one goal or less, it made for a tense and exciting weekend. The crowds were large and loud, the snack bar always had a line with people waiting for the great food and the weather was perfect. All of this put together made for the best tournament the Soccer Club of Oceanside has put on to date.
The Soccer Club of Oceanside would also like to thank Mr. Rainer Mueller for his continued support of the recreational tournament through a generous donation. Mr. Mueller also supplied us with our first ever program that had all the participating teams and players listed, together with the full schedule. We look forward to even bigger and better things next year.
